Barloworld Equipment’s highly successful Maintenance and Repair Contract (MARC) enables Caterpillar customers to outsource the management of all their surface and underground mobile equipment ranging from Caterpillar and competitive machines to drill rigs and bakkies.
Barloworld Equipment Mining signed its first MARC agreement in the mid 1990s and manages equipment on mines in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia in agreements involving about 600 Barloworld Equipment specialists looking after more than 340 machines valued at close to R4-billion.
The concept is now also being used on construction sites with lowest unit cost of production as the ultimate aim.
