Barloworld Equipment remains the earthmoving industry benchmark in all aspects of training.
Learnerships
The company’s pioneering skills development strategies are helping to raise industry standards. The learnership in earthmoving equipment repair and maintenance was successfully piloted by Barloworld Equipment together with the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Industries Sector Education and Training Authority (MerSETA) in 2003.
A new parts learnership has also been developed by the company to meet the industry need for training personnel in this crucial after sales function.
Barloworld Equipment assists the Services SETA in the development of training material for plant operators and the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) in formulating national qualifications for earthmoving equipment operators in the construction industry.
Operator Academy
The Barloworld Equipment Operator Academy is a unique training concept to improve the efficiency and safety of Caterpillar operators, supply more and better skills, provide a career path for unskilled people and train the operators employed by the Barloworld Equipment Cat Rental Store.
Barloworld Equipment also designs and implements incentive programmes for Caterpillar operators together with customers in order to help improve productivity and machine awareness.
Staff training
Barloworld Equipment works closely with several specialist organisations in its bid to develop its staff to the fullest potential. These include BMC Theko for individual assessments, the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) for management development, and Wilson Learning for the development of customer relationship programmes.
