Barloworld Equipment and Boart Longyear concluded a strategic alliance in 2002 giving Boart Longyear’s capital equipment arm access to Barloworld’s extensive servicing network across sub-Saharan Africa. Boart Longyear, part of the Anglo American group, manufactures a range of underground capital equipment including drill rigs, roof bolters, LHDs and utility vehicles, that complements the Caterpillar underground mining product range.
The alliance allows for Boart Longyear equipment sold in any territory in sub-Saharan Africa where Barloworld Equipment is represented to be maintained and serviced by Barloworld’s service network. Countries involved are South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola and Mozambique. Barloworld Equipment may also on-sell Boart Longyear’s equipment, on a non-exclusive basis in these countries.
